California Doctor Charged With Murder After 3 People OD on Prescription Drugs

Hsui-Ying “Lisa” Tseng was arrested on 2nd degree murder charges after 3 of her patients died from prescription drug overdoses. She was arrested yesterday by the Medical Board investigators, and she is being held on $3 million dollars bail. According to CBS Local , Tseng prescribed a “myriad” of drugs to all three patients who died. She is also facing a felony count of prescribing drugs using fraud, and 20 counts of prescribing drugs without a legitimate purpose.

Fatal overdoses from prescription drugs now outnumber the number of fatalities from a car accident. according to the Los Angeles District Attorney. He also said, “Dr. Feelgoods who knowingly overprescribe drugs with no medical reason than someone asks for the drugs and pays the doctor a staggering amount of money will be dealt with severely.”

Dr. Tseng faces a possible maximum prison sentence of 45 years to life. The DEA has taken her license to prescribe drugs, and California has moved to take her medical license away.
