Mom Gets Probation in Child Abuse Case

26-year-old Allisha Ann Haltom is sentenced to 4 years, suspended sentence and 5 years probation after her 3-month-old infant suffered skull and leg fractures at the hand’s of the child’s father.  Allisha plead guilty to child abuse or neglect, admitting that she was unable to protect her baby girl because of her drug use.

After her arrest, Allisha was also charged with possession of a controlled substance, as well as being under the influence of a controlled substance.  Police found heroin in her clothing when she was taken into custody.  Allisha has since completed an impatient treatment program, and is currently living in Reno at STEP2, a comprehensive substance abuse treatment program for women.  Allisha said, “I have been working hard.  I know I have a long road ahead of me to be a good mom.”  She was given the suspended sentence and probation because she has shown so much improvement since the incident.
