A 22-year-old mother was arrested on drug charges, and her 2-year-old son was taken to the hospital when deputies became concerned that he was high on heroin. According to KIMATV.com, Thursday night police stopped the woman’s car, and her boyfriend, who was a passenger had several warrants. He was arrested, and during his arrest officers found what appeared to be a needle loaded with heroin and other paraphernalia in the mother’s purse.
The mother was taken to jail on suspicion of heroin possession and reckless endangerment. The 2-year-old child appeared very lethargic and under the influence of drugs. Medics came to check out the boy, and they transported him to the hospital.
Deputies on the scene believe the boy became intoxicated when his mother was smoking heroin in the car, and they reported the mother did not seem concerned about her son’s condition. Investigators are still waiting for medical tests to confirm the presence of drugs in his system.
The mother is being held in jail, and the child has been placed with child protective services. Records show that the boy was placed with child protective services after she crashed her car in a ditch with her child in the car when she was high on marijuana and PCP. The child also appeared intoxicated in that incident.
