Crystal meth may have played a role in an incident Friday night when a man drove his vehicle into a house and a parked car in a Jackson Township. The driver, 31 year old James M. Allen, is facing charges of felonious assault, child endangering, DUI, and driving under suspended license.

According to police, Allen may have been intentionally aiming to hurt the female passenger as well as the children in the car with him.

The accident occurred in the 9400 block of Portage St. The police report stated that Allen was driving a 1998 Buick Century westbound on Portage Street just before the accident. When officers confronted Allen they noticed the smell of alcohol, as well as Allen’s eyes being bloodshot red and his speech slurred.

Allen told the officers that he had indeed had one beer, smoked marijuana, and used crystal meth earlier that day.

A nurse at the hospital reported hearing Allen comment to his victim that he was going to kill them, and he had intentionally crashed the car into the house. The female victim suffered a broken arm, and the children who were in the car were also treated for minor injuries. The victim was questioned, and told police that prior to the accident her and Allen were arguing, and he said that he was going to take them all out.

Along with the alcohol and marijuana, meth seems to have played a role in this event. It is amazing to see how other people can be affected by one person’s decisions.
