Australian actor, singer, and song-writer Rick Springfield was to the baby boomer generation what Justin Beiber is to the current generation! Yes, 62 year old was once a teen heartthrob.

Well, perhaps Justin Beiber has had a few more number 1 hits, has a lot more fans, and has made a lot more money, but you get what I am trying to say!!

In any regard, the former teen hearthrob, born Richard Lewis Springthorpe, most famous for his only number 1 hit, “Jessie’s Girl” has been in a little legal trouble.

In fact, Thursday, August 09, Springfield pleaded no contest to a charge of driving recklessly.

Police arrested the “Jessie’s Girl” rocker after pulling him over on Malibu’s Pacific Coast Highway after he was discovered speeding; alcohol was involved.

Police officers on the scene of the incident administered Springfield a blood alcohol detection test; Springfield blew a .10, which is in excess of the nationwide legal limit of .08.

The aging rocker’s attorney Phillip Cohen appeared in his absence at a Malibu courthouse to enter the plea in an effort to close the case.

As referenced above, despite the fact that Springfield was facing a driving under the influence of alcohol charge, his attorney apparently negotiated with Malibu city prosecutors to downgrade the charge to reckless driving less any mention of alcohol.

However, Springfield will serve three years of informal probation as a consequence of pleading no contest.

Additionally, according the Malibu district attorney’s office Springfield must attend at least three months of alcohol education classes.

Looks like Springfield should be more careful with his alcohol consumption. Besides, he does not want to ruin that squeaky clean image of his!
