A popular brand of Mexican manufactured diet pills have been all but recalled after many cases of death, stroke and other complications were reported in connection with the pills.
Reumofan Premium and Reumofan Plus are the brand names of the diet pills that the Food and Drug Administration have advised Americans not to consume.
The brands have been sold over the counter in many retail stores throughout the United States. They are marketed as natural cures to such ailments as arthritis and muscle pain of all types.
However, researchers at the Food and Drug Administration have discovered that the pills actually contain several prescription substances, including methocarbomal, a muscle relaxant, and dexamethasone, an anti-inflammatory.
The Food and Drug Administration has specifically warned that the Reumofan Premium and Reumofan Plus may cause fatal complications due to the fact that they have the potential to interact with other medications.
A prior warning regarding the drugs was released by the Food and Drug Administration, nearly two months ago, in June 2012.
However, when cases of complications continued to be reported, the Food and Drug Administration recalled the brands.
