Kim Richards Sobriety

She's the blond….no not Camille; not Yolanda; not Brandi (she is blond right?); not Adrienne, and as she would say, certainly not Kim! As there are several blonds, a better description would be that she is the blond aunt of none other than Paris Hilton!

I refer to her as the "blond aunt" because among the cast of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills ("RHOBH") is Paris's other aunt, a brunette, named Kyle.

With that said, similar to her niece Paris, as well as her sisters Kathy and Kyle, Kim was raised in Beverly Hills and has had a charmed life as far back as she can remember.

Actually, Kim was a very successful child and adolescent actress, and is quite familiar with fame and fortune!

However, and similar to her niece, she has had her fair share of struggles. In particular, Kim has struggled with substance abuse issues.

In front of the entire world, or at least the viewers who watched that episode of RHOBH, frequently intoxicated Kim came to terms with her alcoholism. It was a nightmare to watch.

Yet, with sincerity and willingness she not only admitted that she was an alcoholic, but she did something about it! Kim went to substance abuse rehabilitation more than a year ago and has reemerged sober and working at remaining so.

In fact, most recently, and on the show, Kim underwent a rhinoplasty operation and although given the option to take pain medication she declined. Wow! She is a better woman than me (in more ways than one)!!

Once again Kim, Congratulations on your newfound sobriety! We are all rooting for you!

For all you newly sober people out there, that is how it is done!
