Police responded Thursday, when they received a call of a suspicious man crossing the highway. Officer Jason Philippi found Marwan Obaid, 22, in a restroom stall of the Monarch Diner on Route 23 S.
According to police, the officers noticed Obaid in the stall, and through a crack in the door, they could see him holding an envelope of heroin, along with a hypodermic needle.
Inside, officers discovered a couple of empty envelopes and a bottle cap containing heroin.
Obaid was taken in by police and during the transport he told the officers that he was suicidal. Once at the police station, Obaid told Officer Philippi that he would “sue everyone in this department,” and “take this department down for millions.”
Obaid was taken to St. Joseph’s Wayne Hospital to be further evaluated.
He is also facing charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a hypodermic needle.
It’s amazing how when addiction has a hold of someone, it doesn’t matter where or when the next fix may come, as long as it comes.
