358 Bags of Heroin

Two men are facing serious drug charges after police raided a Pennsylvania Ave. residence.

Matthew Romero, 29, and Jason Mercado, 26, have been sent to the Northumberland County Prison following their arraignment earlier this morning.

Police found 358 bags of heroin (nearly $10,000 worth) as well as $850 cash from the residence. The search warrant came after a series of undercover investigations were conducted, involving numerous controlled drug deals. Both men have had run-ins with the law before, and both have previous drug charges.

Two women, who were at the home during the raid, have been taken into custody on probation detainers, and have further charges pending against them.

These men were operating a significant drug operation out of the home, and had been under surveillance for some time now. Romero’s bail has been set at $125,000, and Mercado has been committed to prison with a bail set at $115,000.
