Nicole Richie Is Winning The Battle Against Drugs and Alcohol

Nicole Richie Sobriety

Nicole Ritchie, adopted daughter of 70's and 80's pop-star Lionel Richie first emerged on the Hollywood scene as the bubbly and fun, yet drug and alcohol addled best friend of equally famous and troubled Paris Hilton.

If you recall, Nicole traveled around the country as part of The Simple Life duo, getting involved in various random and high jinks situations, among them, milking cows in rural areas, drinking and driving towards traffic, working as a hired hand on a farm, arrested for heroin possession, and even driving under the influence of marijuana and Vicodin. She even spent one hour in jail as part of a much longer jail sentence that as it turns out she did not serve. There was something about the jail being too crowded…..oh, and she was pregnant at the time, with the first of two children by her then Good Charlotte rocker beau, Joel Madden.

Fast forward to 2013, and not only is Nicole clean and sober for something like three years now, she was even completed probation early, in December 2010, unlike her former BFF Paris Hilton who is still having trouble with sobriety.

Not only is Nicole sober, she is experiencing the promises that have been depicted in The Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous.

Let's take a look at Nicole's promises:

    1. Rocker Husband, Joel Madden; Yes, he married her in December 2010 and they are still going strong;
    2. Two beautiful children, a boy and a girl, uniquely named Harlow and Sparrow;
    3. Speaking of Harlow, Nicole has a very successful jewelry and accessories line, aptly named House of Harlow; and
    4. She is a celebrity judge on the apparently wildly successful NBC show, Fashion Star.

Perhaps an extreme example, but imagine what you can do if you remain sober and linked to the recovery community!
