Twenty-eight year old Tamba Hali is the most recent recruit added to the National Football League suspension list this season.
The National Football League suspended Hali, a star linebacker for the Kansas City Chiefs, after it learned that Hali had been using drugs.
In fact, Hali will be suspended, and restricted from playing in a single game, without pay. As well, Hali will be fined an additional game check, for a total of $1.3 million dollars.
Hali was a first round draft pick from Penn State and entered an $60 million dollar contract, with a $35 million dollar guarantee, with the Kansas City Chiefs.
A spokesperson for the Kansas City Chiefs stated that the organization is disappointed that Hali has been suspended for using drugs, but it looks forward to his return.
The spokesperson for the Chiefs further stated that it’s organization agrees with the National Football League’s no tolerance of drugs policy.
As far as Hali, he apologized to his fans, his teammates, the Hunt family, and the Chiefs organization. He further stated that he will make up for his less than exemplary behavior with his talent on the field and his behavior off the field.
There was no word as to the specific drug that Hali was suspended for using. One wonders whether it was an illicit street drug or a performance enhancing substance.
It is interesting that athletes are being exposed on a daily basis for using drugs, despite the fact that they know that they have to submit to drug testing. What are they thinking, that they are special or perhaps are invisible?!
The logic or lack of it boggles the mind, so to speak.
