Jail Trusty Attempts To Smuggle Drugs Into Jail

After sheriff’s deputies in Livingston Parish, District of Columbia discovered two men in a restricted area near a jailhouse perimeter, deputies made three arrests.

The three men were attempting to smuggle drugs into the parish jailhouse facility.

What makes the arrests particularly interesting is that one of the arrests involved a trusted jail worker, John L. Palmer, a trusty.

Sheriff’s deputies located Palmer in an area that was off limits to him, a restricted area. When deputies found Palmer was in the area, they accompanied him back into the jail and removed him of his trusty credential.

Deputies booked Palmer on one count of attempting to enter contraband into a penal institution, and another count of attempted possession of marijuana with intent to distribute synthetic marijuana.

Meanwhile, deputies continued to survey the restricted area, and within minutes of discovering Palmer in the restricted area, deputies discovered another man just outside the gate of the restricted area.

The man ran into the woods once he realized that the sheriff’s deputies had discovered him.

In an effort to locate the man, sheriff’s deputies traveled to the opposite end of the wooded area, where they discovered a woman waiting in her vehicle.

Deputies identified the woman as 44 year old Connie Michelli, who stated that she was paid to transport the man, to make a delivery.

Soon after, the man, later identified as Milton L. Brown, emerged from the wooded area, with 16 packages of marijuana [synthetic], that he had been carrying in a plastic bag.

As well, 52 year old Brown was carrying two more bags, each filled with tobacco, rolling paper and a lighter.

Brown and Michelli were both arrested. Michelli was booked on one count of an attempt to enter contraband into a penal institution.

Palmer was booked on two counts, one for an attempt to enter contraband into a penal institution, and the other for possession of synthetic marijuana with intent to distribute.
