From America’s Next Top Model Fame To Methamphetamine Addiction

Jael Strauss, once a fresh faced contestant on Cyle 8 of America’s Next Top Model, in 2007, is set to debut on Dr. Phil this week as a Methamphetamine Addict.

Based on previews of this Thursday’s episode of the Dr. Phil show, 28 year old Strauss looks weathered, sullen, gaunt, and much older than her 28 years, a far cry from the up and coming gamine model she once was.

No word yet as to how she became addicted to methamphetamine.

Strauss’s family approached the Dr. Phil show to do an intervention, hoping that it would lead to recovery for the one-time aspiring fashion model and actress.

On Tyra Bank’s America’s Next Top Model, Jael was portrayed as boisterous, confident, and certainly a star although she did not win the competition.

According to some reports, Strauss did drink quiet a bit, back in 2007, when she was on America’s Next Top Model.

One might wonder how someone of Jael’s stature, who seemed to have everything, or certainly on the right track to acquiring everything, could fall so low. In recovery, what Strauss is experiencing is called a bottom; let’s all hope it her last one.

As most addicts and alcoholics know, addiction is cunning, baffling and powerful, and there is no rhyme or reason to explain why and when addiction will strike. It happens to the best of us and the worst of us, to the rich and to the poor, and equally occurs among those with charmed upbringings and not so charmed upbringings.

One thing is for sure, if this is her last bottom, and if she is prepared to get clean and sober, there is nowhere for her to go but up. With a capable recovery team behind her every step of the way, Jael is certain to reemerge stronger and better than she was before.
