Indie singer-song writer, and one-time pop culture phenomenon, Fiona Apple has been arrested and is still being held regarding a drug related charge.
According to msn.com the singer, most famous for her 1996 debut album, Tidal, which garnered Apple a Grammy award for her critically acclaimed and commercially successful single, “Criminal”, was arrested on Wednesday, September 19, 2012.
Apple was for stopped for inspection at a Texas border when police in the town of Sierra Blanca, TX located Hashish, a potent form of marijuana, on the singer’s tour bus.
Police transported Apple to Hudspeth County Jail subsequent to discovering what was described as a small amount of marijuana, but not before arresting and booking Apple on a charge of drug possession.
Apple was on a tour stop in the Texas town of Sierra Blanca promoting her new album, The Idler Wheel which, incidentally, is her highest chart topping album to date; the album sold more than 72,000 copies in its first week.
Sierra Blanca is notorious for arresting celebrities on drug-related charges. Based on public record, Snoop Dogg, Willie Nelson, and Armie Hammer, of Social Network fame, have all been arrest in Sierra Blanca regarding drug related charges.
Apple has not posted bail and is currently being held at the Hudspeth County Jail facility.
