An Ode To Chris S! What Sober Person Has Inspired You?

Written by DeShawn McQueen on Wednesday, 10 October 2012. Posted in Voices in Recovery, Breaking News

My thoughts:

It is reminiscent of days gone by. Nostalgic, but not regret!

It says to me, consider the mistakes,

Hmm, perhaps I have made far too many….

And certainly, the clock continues to tick, as it has been (unbeknownst to me).

But, the circumstances are no longer the same, as I am now conscious of them, I suppose thanks to him.

Indeed, this is why he is remarkable.

……the secret to success! These words will be the secret to my success.

… is his perspectives; his perspectives at how to lay the foundation, so as to prevent these indignities from seeping through the cracks of my very own walls.

His secret, I suppose is verbalizing….illustrating lessons via the mistakes of others.

But, you see, you must be attentive, as his words are not visceral.

Instead, like the words of other brilliant people, his are indoctrinated with ambiguity, providing just enough.

…… the end, it becomes apparent that although his words were the catalyst, it was your ability that has brought you here….to this very moment of clarity……which just happens to be preparation for success.

So, I sat and I listened, and suddenly as I turned……his words gently, yet garishly whispered to me, “…..don’t be feeble! If you just learn to never look to others, you might have a chance.”

And there is his other secret……the power of simplicity.

Never dramatic,

Never a hint of pretention,

Graceful and dignified,

The characteristics of all remarkable things left undisturbed.
