87 Year Old Man Growing Large Volumes Of Marijuana

A man who resembles a great-grandfather more than a stoner or marijuana dealer has been arrested and charged with several crimes that involve growing and distributing large volumes of marijuana.

On Friday Denver, Colorado resident Edward Bogunovich was charged formally with what appears to be a one man drug enterprise.

Despite being too old to live through the prospective prison term he could receive Bogunovich nevertheless has been charged with several felonies that carry prison time if he is found guilty.

According to the Denver District Attorney’s Office, Bogunovich’s charges include: possession and intent to distribute more than one hundred pounds, possession of more than twelve ounces of marijuana, and cultivation of at least 30 plants.

The District Attorney’s Office alleges that the 87 year old man grew and developed in excess of four hundred marijuana plants in the backyard of his Denver home. Bogunovich is permitted to grow marijuana for medicinal purposes but the amount that he grew was far beyond the allocated amount.

The Colorado State Constitution does permit medical marijuana use and plant growing for the purpose of treating debilitating medical ailments. Additionally, the patient is determined to be lawfully using marijuana when he uses no more than two ounces of marijuana that is in its usable form; upwards of six marijuana plants are permitted so long as no more than three are fully mature, budding plants that produce marijuana in its usable form.

Upon a search of Bogunovich’s home police officers allegedly located materials and devices that indicated that he was growing marijuana for more than his personal use.

Bail was set at $10,000.00 and Bogunovich has since been released from custody at Denver Detention Center.
